UKCA marking of BOFA products and CE changes
Affecting: All BOFA products placed on the UK and EU markets
Implemented by: 1st January 2022
Reason for implementation: UK set to leave the European Union and the CE mark will not allow products to be marketed in the UK after transitional period.
Description of change:
From the 1st January 2022 it will be compulsory for all BOFA products sold to the UK market to bear the UKCA marking, this will be the UK equivalent to the CE mark. Whilst UK and EU requirements are currently the same, the UK government now has the right to change the legislations and directives to which the UKCA mark shows conformity. If these standards change BOFA will be applying the latest UKCA and CE standards to all products sold in the UK and EU to ensure both marks of safety can be issued on the product to allow the the BOFA product range to be sold within the UK and EU.
In order for the transition to be completed within the required time period, BOFA will start to implement the label changes from the 1st January 2021 and will ensure completion before the 31st of December 2021. BOFA has undergone this change to ensure global market compliance is adhered to and to ensure the highest standard of safety is complied with before its products are entered into the market.
Changes will be made to the EC Declaration of Conformity for sale into the EU. These changes will include a technical file holder which in this case is BOFA Germany, this is to ensure the enforcement authorities have a point of contact within the member states and timely access to the information if required.
