Josh Evans MEng (Hons) IChemE Applications Engineer and Head of Learning
I joined the BOFA team in September 2017 as applications engineer, having gained a first class masters in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, accredited by the Institute of Chemical Engineers. This gives me a solid foundation in fluid dynamics, particle mechanics and adsorption chemistry - the key components of any good extraction system.
One of my key responsibilities is providing pre-sales technical advice to sales engineers and customers to determine which BOFA system is best for their specific application. I develop and deliver training programmes both internally to BOFA employees so they have a deeper understanding of the extractors we make and externally to OEMs so that end users are provided with the best system for their application.
As BOFA supplies units to a vast array of industries, every day I interpret and understand new applications in order to answer technical enquiries. This means no two days are the same!
John Horsey BEng (Hons) Technical Manager
I am a graduate Mechanical Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the design, specification and project management of air contaminant control and filtration units and systems.
I joined BOFA in 2014 and now have more than 15 years’ experience in the specific fields of laser and soldering fume emission control.
As well as working closely with customers on site to really get to know their specific requirements, I have presented industry-focused papers at several exhibitions and conferences. I especially enjoy the opportunities to see the latest developments, particularly in the laser industry
As BOFA’s Technical Manager, I am responsible for understanding our customer’s processes and ensuring the correct field application of our equipment.
I deliver technical training for customers and internal staff and also represent BOFA at meetings of various trade and technical associations such as EMADA, the BOHS and the AILU.
Richard Heard Technical Product Manager
I've worked at BOFA since 2005, beginning my journey in the Goods In/ Despatch department. From here I moved into Production, building systems specifically for the laser industry. I transferred into R&D where I focused on new product development for key customers before being promoted to my current role.
I have accumulated a wealth of application and industry knowledge that I directly apply when assessing fume extraction requirements and I enjoy working with customers to identify possible solutions for their specific requirements.
I oversee the technical team, ensuring that enquiries are responded to and efficient solutions are provided. I have a huge pool of knowledge about BOFA product development built up over many years, which is essential when responding to a variety of enquiries.
Dean Stanley Product Support Engineer
I have been with BOFA since 2011, and throughout this time I have gained extensive knowledge about our full range of fume extraction systems. I have achieved this by having first-hand experience of our products, from initial design through to system build and now in technical support.
I started in our main production team building our units before moving into research and development, where I spent four years designing and building prototype units and meticulously documenting my work, including electrical schematics.
I thrive on problem solving and enjoy working with my customers across the globe to identify and offer the best solution for them.
My previous experience as a qualified electrician enables me to think on my feet to quickly grasp a better understanding of potential issues and possible solutions. My organisation skills and attention to detail ensures I respond to customers in a helpful and timely manner.
My role within the team is varied and includes addressing technical enquiries through email and over the phone; creating technical documents to assist our customers with fault finding and rectification; providing detailed spares lists and also aiding customers with part identification and pricing. I also offer training to internal staff and customers and distributors and conduct site repairs, including installations.
I began my career at BOFA in January 2018 as a factory operative, assembling and setting up our extractors. I then moved into the Technical department and now have detailed technical diagnosis and electrical knowledge of our full range of products.
My previous experience in a customer service role enables me to strategise and prioritise effectively to accomplish multiple tasks and stay calm under pressure. Being highly organised and efficient means that I’m able to accomplish objectives with enthusiasm and precision.
My role sees me based in the office where I work with internal and external customers to address technical queries through email and over the phone, including fault finding and diagnostics. I also aid in the creation of technical documents, including training materials; identify correct part numbers; and produce warranty orders.
In the future I will visit customer sites to carry out LEV services and also to help maintain units.
